Official: Manchester City sign De Bruyne

Manchester City has completed the signing of Kevin De Bruyne from Wolfsburg in a deal worth more than £55 million ibcluding add-ons. The Belgium international was named Player of the Year in 2014-15 in Germany where his team came second.

The Belgium international has been a target for Manchester City over the course of the summer transfer window. The player is now a Premier League player again but this time he will be playing for Manchester City and not Chelsea.

Wolfsburg CEO Klaus Allofs kept up a defiant public stance right up until this past week, when City's resolve to do a deal shone through and they agreed to pay the second highest transfer fee in British football history for the youngster.

Allofs met with City's Txiki Begiristain at the Champions League draw in Monaco on Thursday and De Bruyne was left out of the club's squad for Friday night's league clash with Schalke at the Volkswagen Arena where he watched the Match in the stands before heading to England in a private jet on Saturday to complete a medical despite City boss Manuel Pellegrini's claims that he knew nothing of the transfer.

De Bruyne could make his debut against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on September 12 for the current leaders of the Barclays Preimer League.
