Bruno Conti: "No tactics can stop Leo Messi"

Former Italian international Bruno Conti who won  the 1982 world cup says no tactics can stop Lionel Messi as the Argentine attacker. With FC Barcelona are preparing for the Champions League Meeting against AS Roma Leo Messi will be looking to start is first game since recovering from his injury.

"Football has changed a lot and it has all became so much more tactical," he  said via Goal in an interview. "Gentile did it on Maradona, but also on Zico.

"Coaches prepare games well, but a player like Messi can't be stopped by any tactics. It's a headache to prepare matches against players like that because man-marking is no longer possible in today's football."

The 28-year-old is set to return to the starting line-up against Roma after making his long-awaited return from the bench in the 4-0 win at Real Madrid on Saturday and Conti believes Barca's forward line is the world's best.

"They are phenomenonal," he said of Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez. "They have a great ability to score goals. I don't think there is a better attack anywhere else in the world."

The former Roma youth coach also claims Barca boss Luis Enrique that the FC Barcelona boss was treated unfairly.

"When he arrived, Roma were in a period of reconstruction and [director of football Walter] Sabatini still hadn't identified the right players," he said. "Luis Enrique arrived at a time when there were many pieces still missing. With the team that's there today, he would have gone far."

The Italian also commented on the previous meeting between both teams.

"That statistic is a great satisfaction," Conti added. "The hope is to get a positive result on Tuesday. That would be something fantastic, especially against a Barcelona team that are having very few negative results."
