UEFA president Platini faces lifelong ban

According to Michel Platini's lawyers, the adjudicatory chamber of FIFA's ethics committee is looking to hand the UEFA president a lifelong ban for corruption Marca Repots.

The ethics committee, chaired by German judge Hans-Joachim Eckert, will announce its decision on  the situation in December.

If the ethics committee choices to go with the recommended decision this would spell the end of the UEFA president's career as it relates to football. Michel Platini who is the current president of UEFA is currently serving a temporary ban, Platini had also hpoed to win the FIFA's upcoming presidential election which will be held on the 26th of February.

The recommendation made by the adjudicatory chamber, chaired by Trinidad and Tobago's Vanessa Allard, is "absurd and outrageous" and "definitely discredits FIFA", said Thomas Clay, a member of Platini's legal team.

According to the lawyer, the adjudicatory chamber of FIFA's ethics Committee, which is investigating a 1.8m euros payment made by FIFA to Platini in 2011, asked for the toughest possible penalty last week.

The media had speculated that he could be banned for as long as six years, but, according to the former footballer's lawyers, it looks as though it will go way beyond that.
