Chelsea ‘receive transfer boost as Roma fail with bid to sign Antonio Rudiger’

Jose Mourinho is believed to be lining up a £20million offer for Rudiger according to Metro, but Roma may move more quickly as they seek a replacement for Alessio Romagnoli. Rudiger has made 66 Bundesliga appearances for the German outfit since 2012

The Blues are now ‘neck and neck’ with Roma in the race to sign the 22-year-old, according to talkSPORT, as Mourinho continues to look for defensive reinforcements before the transfer window closes.

Arsenal are also thought to be interested in Rudiger, but it is not known whether Arsene Wenger will launch a rival bid.

Rudiger, who is contracted to the Mercedes-Benz Arena club until 2017, has yet to reveal if he wishes to leave Germany this summer.
