Kevin De Bruyne’s protracted move to Manchester City is finally nearing completion after Wolfsburg’s sporting director confirmed his move to the Etihad Stadium.
After weeks of negotiations City made the significant breakthrough on Wednesday night, when the Premier League leaders are now expected to take their summer spending close to £150m by completing the signing of De Bruyne over the weekend.
De Bruyne, who signed for Wolfsburg in an £18m transfer from Chelsea just eighteen months ago, could even be in Manchester in time for City’s encounter with Watford at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
A private jet has been standing by since Wednesday to take De Bruyne and his agent, Patrick De Koster, to Manchester to complete his medical. The Belgium midfielder was pictured in the stands alongside De Koster as he watched the match against Schalke.
