French giants PSG made a bid of £87.3m during the summer transfer window for the Portuguese international. Reports from the Sunday Times suggested that the French champions were willing to give the player an improved contract offer as well which would value a total of £250m.
The Real Madrid star has also been linked with a move back to United as the Old Trafford hierarchy look to make a marquee signing.
During the summer, United failed with moves for Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, Keylor Navas and Raphael Varane from Real Madrid and also failed to bring in the likes of Thomas Muller and Pedro from Barcelona who ended up at Chelsea.
News of PSG's interest in Ronaldo follows their offer an escape route to Jose Mourinho from Chelsea.
The Blues have had a troubled start to the season with controversy on and off the pitch.
According to the Sunday Express exclusive Mourinho is at the top of their wanted list and they believe he can take them to the next level.
