Neymar recalled for World Cup qualifier against Argentina

Barcelona forward Neymar has been recalled for Brazil’s 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Argentina and Peru next month.

Selecao coach Dunga did not hide his delight at the return of his captain but warned the clash against Argentina would not be decided on talent alone, reported Xinhua.

Brazil currently lie in fifth place in their qualifying group on three points, after their away defeat to Chile by 2-0, and a 3-1 home win over Venezuela. The Samba boys travel to Buenos Aires on 12th November, before welcoming Peru in Salvador on 17th November.

The 23-man squad is made up of: Jefferson, Álisson Cassio, David Luiz, Miranda, Marquinhos, Gil, Filipe Luis, Marcelo, Danilo, Daniel Alves, Luiz Gustavo, Fernandinho, Elías, Renato Augusto, Lucas Lima, Willian, Kaka, Oscar, Neymar, Hulk, Ricardo Oliveira and Douglas Costa.

“It’s always a war against Argentina,”says the Brazilian coach Dunga at a conference in Rio de Janeiro. “These are games that are decided by details. Each ball is vital and the next match is going to be no different. We have to be focused. Neymar increases our potential.”
Dunga suggested the duo’s omission of both Coutinho and Firmino may have been caused by a lack of communication.

“We are frequently in contact with all our players and they have to pass all the relevant information on to us,” Dunga said. “We want direct contact so as not to make any mistakes.”
Coutinho has recovered from an from a groin problem and is fit to play however Firmino currently has a back injury.
