Monaco shareholder Alessandro Proto has published a statement revealing his interest in the Chelsea boss. Jose Mourinho, 52, has had a poor start to the seasoning winning just 3 matches of 11 games, However the Italian businessman had this to say about the Blues boss.
"Mourinho is the best coach in the world", claimed Proto - whose company has a joint majority stake in the New York Times together with Carlos Slim -, adding that he has a meeting lined up with Blues owner Roman Abramovich this Tuesday to discuss the matter.
"If necessary, I'll pay Abramovich the release clause straight up so that he lets Mourinho go", the statement continues, noting that if the Russian "doesn't want him [Mou] any more", Proto is more than happy to splash the cash to help take him to the Stade Louis II.
The statement goes on to warn that if Monaco don't act because they consider signing Mou too big an investment, "the USA and the MLS are ready to welcome him with open arms".
