Chelsea and Manchester United in race to sign Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller

According to reports Chelsea are ready to rival Manchester United for Bayern Munich Forward Thomas Muller.

Louis van Gaal is desperate to sign the German forward but has failed in the last two summers to bring the 26-year-old to Old Trafford.

Costa’s future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain following the striker’s bust-up with Mourinho during the Blues’ 0-0 draw with Tottenham on Sunday and the Spanish forward could be sold next summer.

The incident in question surrounds Chelsea striker Diego Costa. The 27-year-old appeared to throw his warm up bib in the direction of Blues boss Jose Mourinho during the latter stages of the encounter at White Hart Lane in a 0-0 draw

And, according to the Mirror, the Blues will go head-to-head with the Red Devils next summer to sign the Bayern Munich forward who is valued at around £72million.

Former Bayer Munich and Germany midfielder Lothar Matthaus had his say as it relates to the Premier League clubs being link with Thomas Muller.

Matthaus said: “He does not need Manchester United or Chelsea. "Barcelona perhaps could use him, but I do not know whether he can deal with their game.

“My opinion is that he should definitely stay at Bayern for his lifetime.

“He started his professional career at Bayern and I think he should end his career here. He does not need any new challenge as he is always playing at the highest level every year at Bayern.”
