Real Madrid star insists he has no plans to join Barcelona

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has ruled out ever joining rivals Barcelona and is happy to retire in the Spanish capital – at the age of 32.

The 26-year-old joined Los Blancos in the summer of 2014 from Bayern Munich, after spending eight years with the Bavarian giants.

Kroos has since developed into an integral member of the first-team squad and he recently signed a new dealm which is reportedly worth a remarkable €120 million (£108million) – making him the highest paid German in history.

The central midfielder, who is currently sidelined with a foot injury, has surprisingly been the subject of interest from rivals Barcelona over the last week – something he has now categorically denied.

However, whilst delighting fans with his comments about not moving to the Nou Camp, then left many surprised with suggestions he could retire at the age of just 32.

“I do not envisage going to Barcelona,” Kroos told Kicker.

“There are certain transfers you simply don’t do. This has a lot to do with respect. Respect for tradition and the fans.

“I will have reached 32 at the end of the contract. I do not forecast playing until 38 or 39.

“At 32 one has already given his best years in football and as for physically it seems a good age to quit, but I do not want to commit to what might happen between now and six years’ time.

“Real Madrid is my club. In the last two-and-a-half years I have grown in a sporting sense and personally.

“From the first day I found a positive response from team-mates, fans and coaches.”
