Arsenal have won an appeal against Brazilian defender Gabriel’s sending-off in Saturday’s Premier League defeat to Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge, the Football Association confirmed on Tuesday.
The successful appeal means he will now not serve a three-match suspension,
However, Gabriel still faces a separate charge of improper conduct for his reaction after being shown the red card by referee Mike Dean.
On Monday Costa was also charged with violent conduct and both clubs were charged by the FA with failing to control their players. The charges was announced in a statement released by the governing body which confirmed the referee, Mike Dean, had not witnessed Costa putting his hands in Laurent Koscielny’s face and, more significantly, the forward’s flailing left arm making contact with his marker.
