Defender Joleon Lescott has joined Aston Villa from Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion for a fee that could rise to £2m.
The 33-year-old England international has signed a two-year contract at Villa Park.
"He's a player who has great Premier League experience and he'll be a huge help to the younger members of our squad," said Villa boss Tim Sherwood.
Ex-Manchester City and Everton centre-back Lescott had spent just one season at the Hawthorns. He was signed last summer during Alan Irvine’s time in charge, but was allowed to move on by Tony Pulis, who had recently brought in Jonny Evans from Manchester United and James Chester from Hull City.
Lescott, a Villa supporter, is Tim Sherwood’s 11th signing of the transfer window.
