Barcelona could receive support to register Arda Turan

The president of High Council for Sports (CSD), Miguel Cardenal, stated that he would look into how he could be able to help Barcelona over a possible decision to ask FIFA to allow them to register Arda Turan instead of Rafinha. The Turkish international is not eligible to play for the Catalans until January due to the transfer embargo placed on the club by FIFA. Spanish legislation appears to favour the club at present.

"I've read up on this circumstance and it's based on possible discrepancies in the ruling between RFEF and FIFA. It is Barcelona's decision", stated Cardenal, who insisted that the move to request for Arda to be registered "has to be taken by the club. They must decide if they want to exercise their rights. It's a legal subject that has to be studied to understand the finer details", he added.

"It's a ban by FIFA that neither the CSD nor the Spanish administration is a part of and we don't know the precise details, but we've seen recently that we defend the Spanish legal system and the application of Spanish laws with the sale of broadcasting rights. The hypothesis here is just the balance is in favour of Barcelona's interests and if they do take it forward, we wouldn't hesitate to support them", he concluded.

Cardenal also said that it would be good if RFEF regulations "were in line with FIFA's so that such disputes do not arise" as well as highlighting his "commitment to defending Spanish legislation".
