Jamie Vardy denied chance of impressing Real Madrid and Barcelona due to injury

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona had detailed scouts to check on Jamie Vardy until injury ruled him out of England’s friendly against Spain in Alicante.

Vardy had been set to play centre forward in Roy Hodgson’s team and the Spanish giants were keen to see the Barclays Premier League’s leading goal scorer in action against top-class defenders.

The 28-year-old was forced out with a minor groin problem which he hopes will have cleared up in time for Tuesday’s friendly against France at the Wembley Stadium.

Vardy’s contract ends at the close of next season and Leicester will not stand in his way if a Champions League club moves for a player who was in non-League little more than three years ago. Harry Kane will be starting in the game against Spain while England captain Wayne Rooney will be on the Bench.

England manager Hodgson wants his strikers to be fit and challenging each other so that he can pick the best possible squad for the Euro 2016

Theo Walcott, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Welbeck and Danny Ings are all out injured.
