FC Barcelona announces new partnership with Scotiabank
FC Barcelona announced a multi-year agreement with Scotiabank on Wednesday that will see the international bank become an official partner for endeavours in Latin America and Caribbean countries.
The Canadian-based Scotiabank, which has 23 million customers worldwide, is set to sponsor several soccer programs aimed at youth in those regions. In addition to organizing soccer festivals, it will enable local selected teams to attend training events in Barcelona. Customers will also be offered tickets and “football experiences” by the bank.
“Very few sports teams can rouse the passion of its fans around the world like football powerhouse FC Barcelona and we are thrilled to become the Official Banking Partner of one of the greatest sports teams in the world,” said Ignacio “Nacho” Deschamps, a Scotiabank executive, in a press release. “This partnership is about football and the passion we share for the game with our customers and employees.”
Added Jordi Cardoner, first vice-president, FC Barcelona: “Scotiabank’s support will allow us to expand our reach in Latin America and help us build a fair and accessible society in which children and youth can develop their fullest potential.”
Scotiabank is no stranger to soccer sponsorship as the organization became a partner of CONCACAF in 2014.
FC Barcelona was recently ranked by Forbes as the second most valuable soccer team in the world, valued at $3.56 billion.
