Luis Suarez to sign new deal

Barcelona star Luis Suarez is close to signing a new long-term deal with the club according to president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

The new deal will reportedly tie the Uruguayan to the club until the end of the 2021/22 season, and it is hoped Suarez’s signature will help to secure the future of Lionel Messi once more.

“We will renew with Suarez, there are only a few small details left,” Bartomeu is quoted as saying by Marca.

“It will be announced in the coming days or weeks and could be a great Christmas present.

“The plan is to extend it for the maximum amount of time, up to 2022 to coincide with the Qatar World Cup.”

Suarez will become the latest player to commit his future to the Catalan giants after Neymar signed a new deal until 2021 earlier this season.

The 29-year-old once again sits atop the goal scoring charts for Barcelona this season with nine goals in league action.

Since making the move to Spain in 2014 from Liverpool, Suarez and his Barcelona teammates have tasted success in both domestic and continental competition.
