Thibaut Courtois is facing a period on the sidelines after undergone surgery to his right knee but José Mourinho, the Chelsea manager, has said that the goalkeeper will be out for “quite a long time”.
The club intend to confirm the length of absence later on Friday but the early reports have put it at between 10 and 12 weeks.

Mourinho said at a news conference ahead of Saturday's meeting with Everton: "Courtois was injured in a training session with the goalkeepers and I cannot tell you much, but I can tell you that he needs surgery in his right knee.
"As a consequence of that he will be out for quite a long time. I cannot be at this moment more specific about the injury or the time he will be out."
Former Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic will replace Courtois, having already stood in for the Belgian when he was sent off against Swansea on the opening day of the season.
